Puncak Tribal Leader Urges Residents to Maintain Security and Avoid Provocation

Jayapura, Indonesia — The Chief of the Puncak Tribe, Daibenus Murib, has called on residents to help maintain peace and stability in Papua’s highland region amid ongoing efforts to ensure a secure and harmonious environment.

Murib emphasized that security is a shared responsibility between the community and law enforcement. He urged residents to actively support the work of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) in safeguarding local security posts.

“People must help maintain order and support the security officers on duty. Don’t be easily influenced by negative rumors or conflicts from other areas that could spread to our region,” Murib said.

He noted that peace is the foundation for effective development in Puncak Regency, allowing programs to benefit the community as intended. Therefore, he called on all community members to remain united and prioritize dialogue in resolving disputes.

“When we live in peace and harmony, development can move forward and people can truly feel the benefits,” he added.

The tribal leader also reminded residents of the importance of preserving social harmony as the main defense against provocation and conflict. He expressed hope that the people of Puncak will not be swayed by any parties seeking to disrupt regional stability.
