Paniai, Central Papua – The traditional stone-burning ceremony enlivened the 29th Anniversary of Paniai Regency, held in Madi Village on Friday (October 3, 2025). The event, which began at 3:00 p.m. WIT, was celebrated with the participation of thousands of residents and full support from Paniai Police and personnel of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025.
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that security arrangements had been prepared in advance to ensure the entire series of activities ran safely and orderly. Nevertheless, the atmosphere remained warm, as officers were not only tasked with maintaining security but also actively took part in the traditional processions together with the community.
“The involvement of security personnel in this event is a form of support for cultural preservation as well as an effort to strengthen relations with the community,” said Brigadier General of Police Faizal Ramadhani.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that the presence of security personnel was not solely to safeguard the event but also to share in the sense of togetherness within the stone-burning tradition.
“This tradition holds great significance for the people of Papua. Beyond being a cultural celebration, stone-burning is also an expression of gratitude for the journey of Paniai Regency over the past 29 years. We hope this tradition will continue to thrive and remain a unifying force for the community,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga.
The event concluded with a communal meal shared among residents, security personnel, and local government officials. The joy and warmth that filled the atmosphere reaffirmed that stone-burning is not only a tradition but also a social bond that sustains harmony in the Land of Papua.
