Yahukimo – Four civilians trapped in a mining site in Seradala District, Yahukimo Regency, were successfully evacuated by the joint Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 along with TNI-Polri personnel. The rescue mission was carried out under tense conditions, as an armed clash with the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) briefly occurred during the operation.
The survivors who were evacuated include:
1. Bakri Laode (38), from Bau-Bau
2. Febri @ Basir (46), from Donggala
3. Tarik Baruba @ Taslim (44), from Sanger
4. Berti Oliver Dias (30), from Ambon
All four were mining workers who managed to escape from KKB’s brutal attack several days earlier. After the evacuation, they were immediately taken to Yahukimo Police Station for consolidation and medical check-ups.
Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., expressed his highest appreciation for the professionalism and bravery of the personnel involved.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to all personnel on duty. Despite the armed clash with KKB, the team was able to carry out the evacuation mission safely and rescue the civilians. This reflects our strong commitment to protecting every life in Papua,” said Brigjen Faizal, Saturday (September 27, 2025).
He further emphasized that Operation Peace Cartenz remains focused not only on law enforcement but also on a humanist approach to ensure civilian protection in vulnerable areas.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Peace Operation Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., underlined that security operations in Yahukimo will be continuously reinforced.
“We will take tactical and coordinated measures with all elements of the security forces to ensure stability in Yahukimo. Law enforcement against the armed groups will be carried out in a measured, directed, and professional manner,” stressed Kombes Adarma.
With this successful evacuation, all survivors are now confirmed safe and receiving necessary medical treatment. Security forces continue to monitor the situation in Seradala District to prevent further disturbances.
