Arso, Papua – The Chief of the Wikaya Tribe in Keerom Regency, Herman Yoku, has voiced strong support for the firm actions taken by the Peace Cartenz Task Force in addressing threats from Armed Criminal Groups (KKB) in Papua.
In a statement on Thursday (July 17, 2025), Yoku praised the task force’s efforts as a clear demonstration of the state’s presence in safeguarding civilians from armed violence. He emphasized that the task force represents more than just a security force—it reflects the government’s commitment to creating lasting peace in Papua.
“We highly appreciate the consistent efforts of the Peace Cartenz Task Force in upholding the law against KKB,” said Yoku.
A former KKB combatant who now serves as a respected tribal leader, Yoku firmly stated that the violent actions carried out by the KKB do not reflect the noble values of the Papuan people. He strongly condemned such acts and urged all elements of society to maintain public order and avoid provocation.
“Papua is a land of peace. It’s time for us to live in harmony without violence and not allow any group to destroy the unity we’ve built,” he asserted.
Yoku also called on the community to support the government’s efforts in achieving sustainable peace throughout the Land of Cenderawasih.
