MIMIKA – Good news for the people of Mimika. The blue malaria medicine, also known as DHP Frimal, is once again available at various healthcare facilities after a period of shortage.
The Head of the Mimika District Health Office, Reynold J. Ubra, said that his office received the shipment from the Ministry of Health through the Provincial Government of Central Papua at the end of June 2025.
“At the end of June, we received 35,000 tablets of the blue medicine,” Reynold told reporters at the courtyard of the Mimika Government Center on Monday (7 July 2025).
Previously, the shortage of DHP Frimal forced malaria patients in Mimika to switch to an alternative medication, D-arteep Dispersible, or the white pill. With this new supply, malaria treatment services in Mimika are expected to return to normal.
