Wamena – The Law Enforcement Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz (ODC) 2025 carried out the Stage II handover of suspect Aske Mabel and related evidence to the Wamena District Attorney’s Office, Jayawijaya Regency, on Wednesday (May 21, 2025). This handover marks the continuation of legal proceedings against the suspect in a case involving aggravated theft and illegal possession of firearms.
The activity was led by IPTU Rusdyanto, S.H., the 2nd Unit Head of the Sub-Investigation Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, and was conducted under tight security from Jayapura to Wamena. The suspect was officially received by Public Prosecutors Dr. Kusufi Esti Ridliani, S.H., M.H., and Rizki Saputra.
Evidence submitted along with the suspect includes two AK-2000p long-barreled rifles, two magazines, 71 rounds of live 5.56 mm ammunition, one SS1 magazine, and several supporting items.
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that the handover reflects Polri’s strong commitment to uphold the law professionally, transparently, and fairly in the Papua region.
“We reaffirm that legal proceedings against armed criminals will continue to be closely monitored until they are fully resolved. This Stage II handover demonstrates that the Law Enforcement Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz operates in a measured manner and in accordance with applicable legal procedures,” stated Brig. Gen. Faizal.
He also expressed his appreciation for the synergy between investigators, the prosecution, and other law enforcement agencies involved in the process.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., called on the people of Papua not to be easily influenced by propaganda or incitement that leads to acts of violence or legal violations.
“We urge all communities, especially those in the Central Highlands of Papua, to work together in maintaining public safety and supporting fair law enforcement. Do not be provoked by groups that seek to disrupt peace and order in Papua,” said Chief Commissioner Yusuf.
He also stressed that public involvement in maintaining security and public order (kamtibmas) is crucial to achieving a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Papua.
In addition to the weapons theft case, Aske Mabel is also being charged in a separate case involving premeditated murder. The investigation team is currently finalizing the case files before proceeding with Stage I submission to the prosecution.
