Papua — The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force-2025, in collaboration with the Yahukimo Police, has conducted a repositioning and reconstruction of a violent assault case against a civilian in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency. This effort is part of the ongoing investigation into the attempted murder of Agnes G. Kasihiuw.
The reconstruction was led by Chief of Operations for Cartenz Peace Task Force-2025, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, accompanied by Deputy Chief of Operations, Commissioner Adarma Sinaga. The process was carried out at three key crime scenes.
“This is our commitment to fully uncover the facts, ensure a professional legal process, and provide justice for the victims and the people of Papua,” said Brigadier General Faizal on Tuesday (May 13).
The repositioning and reconstruction were held at three locations: the planning site (Crime Scene 1), the attempted murder location at Wo River Bridge (Crime Scene 2), and the video recording site (Crime Scene 3).
For security reasons, Crime Scene 1 was relocated to Yahukimo Police Headquarters. Here, scenes depicting the perpetrators planning violent attacks against civilians and security forces were reenacted.
At Crime Scene 2, located at Wo River Bridge in the Eselon IV Housing complex, 12 scenes were reenacted, illustrating the sequence of the attack, the victims’ attempt to escape, their fall into the river, and the rescue by local residents.
Meanwhile, at Crime Scene 3, the reenactment showed the perpetrators recording a declaration video, sending the footage, and attempting to delete the evidence from their devices.
The main suspect, Ivan Kabak, participated directly in the reconstruction. Four other suspects, who remain at large, were represented by stand-ins.
The perpetrators face charges under Article 340 in conjunction with Articles 53, 55, and 56 of the Indonesian Penal Code (KUHP), or Article 351 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Articles 55 and 56, carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
So far, only Ivan Kabak has been arrested and officially charged. The other four suspects—Markus Helembo alias Bapak Simpan, Brutal Helembo, Vixon Suhun, and Kiri Pahabol—are still being pursued and are listed on the Police’s Most Wanted List (DPO).
Cartenz Peace Task Force-2025 Public Relations Chief, Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, urged the public to remain calm and not be provoked by misleading information. He emphasized that the repositioning and reconstruction are crucial for strengthening evidence and supporting the legal process against those who threaten public safety.
“A case review will be conducted next to determine further legal steps,” Yusuf Sutejo concluded.
The Indonesian National Police reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security in Papua and enforcing the law professionally and transparently.
