Jayapura- Registration for regional elections has opened on Tuesday (27/8). All National Police personnel in the Tanah Papua Regency have been involved in providing security.
As in Kab. Puncak Jaya, Central Papua, as many as 40 personnel were deployed to secure the registration process for candidates for regent and deputy regent on the first day, namely the pair Miren Kogoya – Mendi Wonorengga.
Apart from that, in Kab. Waropen’s 89 personnel were also involved in organizing the regional elections. Not only that, the Boven Digoel Police also deployed 73 personnel who were divided into three security rings.
In Paniai Regency, 91 personnel were deployed to carry out regional election security, and in Biak Regency, 150 personnel were deployed who were divided into three security rings, namely ring 1 inside the KPU office fence, ring 2 outside the KPU office fence and ring 3 in the area around the KPU office. .
Furthermore, the Keerom Police deployed 87 personnel for the implementation of the regional elections and a number of tactical vehicles were ready to be used for smooth security, followed by the Sarmi Police who also prepared approximately 40 personnel for security.
And the Papua Regional Police themselves deployed 41 personnel who were assigned to secure the implementation of the regional elections in Merauke Regency.
Papua Police Chief through the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Commissioner Pol. Benny Ignatus Adi Prabowo said that each of these personnel would continue to provide security at every level of the Pilkada implementation from start to finish.
“They will later be placed at each point, depending on regional conditions in each region,” he concluded.
