Jayapura – Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, emphasized that the Papuan People’s Council (MRP) is an important partner for the regional government. In an effort to maintain security and order in the Bumi Cenderawash area, coordination and consolidation between the MRP and the local government must continue.
“MRP is the government’s strategic partner in Papua’s development, so I promote close cooperation,” said Ramses Limbong after holding a meeting with the chairman and members of MRP at the MRP Building, Jayapura City, on Thursday.
Furthermore, Limbong explained that ahead of the Regional Head Election (Pilkada), strengthening synergy is very necessary. “In this meeting we discussed the Special Committee (Pansus) preparing for the Pilkada which is a common concern so that the voting can run well,” he stressed.
Limbong stated that his party would continue discussions regarding the implementation of the Regional Election Special Committee so that the entire process could run smoothly. “We will prioritize and continue to coordinate with each other to provide clarity regarding budget discussions,” he explained.
On the other hand, the Chair of the Papuan MRP, Nerlince Wamuar Rollo, said that the MRP’s role in implementing the regional elections includes providing consideration, approval and recommendations that the proposed candidates for governor and deputy governor are Indigenous Papuans (OAP).
“Therefore, we have formed a Regional Election Special Committee to ensure the authenticity of the candidates for governor and deputy governor,” he added.
Nerlince also emphasized the importance of budget support so that MRP duties and functions can be carried out effectively so that the recommendations given are not haphazard. “Currently, we know that there are three candidates, one of whom requires a budget of around IDR 2 billion to carry out direct verification of the authenticity of the candidate for governor and deputy governor,” he concluded.
