Jayapura – The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) of the Intan Jaya region carried out disturbances in the form of attacks on the security forces of the Homeyo Police and Koramil of Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, Sunday (07/16/2023) at around 07.00 wit.
Head of Papua Police Public Relations Kombes Pol. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom, when confirmed confirmed the incident.
Kabid Humas said the incident began when personnel held a meeting with religious leaders and the community regarding a meeting to help with the loss of firearms allegedly stolen by KKB belonging to members of the Polsek.
“When holding a meeting, suddenly there was a barrage of gunfire towards the Homeyo Police and Koramil, so that members of the Police and Koramil defended and returned fire,” said the Head of Public Relations, Monday (07/17).
The firefight occurred for approximately 2 hours, the Head of Public Relations said that after the firefight, the KKB allegedly shifted to Bilai Village.
“In the firefight there were no casualties either from the TNI-Polri apparatus or from the KKB,” said the Head of Public Relations.
Previously, on Saturday (15/07) at around 18.00 wit it was reported that a long-barreled firearm belonging to a member of the Homeyo Police Station was allegedly stolen by KKB members.
Kombes Benny added that currently the Papua Police is conducting investigations and investigations related to the loss of firearms belonging to members of the Polsek.
“We appeal to residents of Homeyo District, Intan Jaya Regency to support the security forces to support the TNI-Polri in order to maintain a safe and conducive Kamtibmas situation for the progress and development of development in the area,” concluded Kombes Benny.
