Jayapura – Pilot Susi Air is still being held hostage by the armed criminal group (KKB) in Papua after three months have passed. The police are concerned about the health condition of the New Zealand national.
“It is possible that health conditions will decline,” said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, Friday (12/05/2023).
Ignatius said that the pilot’s health could be disrupted due to the cold temperature in the forest due to the altitude. In addition, they often move places for three months by traveling mountain and valley routes.
In addition, he suspects that health is declining due to food intake. Then, psychological factors are under pressure as hostages to armed criminal groups.
“We suspect that health will decline,” he said.
Search efforts are continuing. TNI/Polri officers focused on searching for the pilot in four districts, namely Nduga, Yahukimo, Lany Jaya and Puncak.
Apart from that, the apparatus also embraced religious and traditional leaders to negotiate with the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya. Currently, waiting for the results of negotiations.
The New Zealand pilot has been held captive by KKB since 7 February 2023. Before being taken into custody, the plane the pilot operated was set on fire by KKB at Paro Airport, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains.
