Jayapura – Papua Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Mathius Fakhiri emphasized that its members would continue to study the suppliers of funds to the KKB, both civilians and officials or ASN.
He confirmed that his members are continuing to investigate financial assistance to the KKB because it is alleged that a lot of funds have been disbursed to help the group that disrupts security.
“Currently investigators are still interrogating the District Head Kenyam MM (37),” said Inspector General Mathius in Jayapura, Wednesday (10/5/2023).
He said the investigation of MM was currently centered in Timika after previously being flown from Kenyam, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains.
There are several officials who are indicated to be helping the KKB, especially in assisting with funds, and they are continuing to be investigated.
“Hopefully the suppliers of funds to the KKB can be arrested immediately because we are asked to take strict action against those who help the group,” said Inspector General Mathius.
Meanwhile, Head of Task Force Damai Cartenz Kombes Faizal Rahmadani separately admitted that MM was arrested in April 2023 and is now undergoing further investigation in Timika.
Regarding MM’s involvement, Faizal said, there were indications that he bought ammunition for the KKB so the police then arrested him.
“The arrest of MM was carried out because previously there were indications of involvement in helping to burn the KKB in the Nduga region to purchase weapons and ammunition,” he concluded.
