The Provincial Government of Highland Papua, through its Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR), is accelerating the development of the core government area, known as the Kawasan Inti Pusat Pemerintahan (KIPP). This strategic project is targeted to commence in 2026 as part of broader efforts to strengthen governance and administrative services in the newly established province.
A series of preparatory stages are currently underway, including technical planning, spatial arrangement, and intensive coordination with the central government. These efforts aim to ensure that the KIPP development is carried out in a structured, integrated, and sustainable manner, aligned with the region’s long-term development goals.
The Head of the PUPR Office of Highland Papua emphasized that the acceleration of the KIPP project is a key priority in improving public service delivery.
“The KIPP development is not merely about physical infrastructure, but also about laying the foundation for a representative and effective government center that meets the needs of the community. We are optimistic that the ongoing preparations will enable construction to begin in 2026,” he stated.
He further highlighted that strong synergy between the regional and central governments will be crucial to the project’s realization. Support in terms of funding, regulatory frameworks, and technical assistance is considered essential to ensure that the development proceeds efficiently and effectively.
Beyond serving as the administrative hub, the KIPP in Highland Papua is also expected to become a new driver of economic growth in the region. The development of this area is projected to enhance basic infrastructure, attract investment, and create broader economic opportunities for local communities.
The PUPR Office affirmed its commitment to overseeing the entire process, from planning to implementation, while upholding principles of sustainable development, environmental consideration, and respect for local cultural values.
