Jayapura – Abisai Rollo asked the Environment and Hygiene Service (DLHK) of Jayapura City to optimize waste management in all regions, especially in the East Koya area, Muara Tami District.
The request was conveyed following the accumulation of garbage on Jalan Kuburan, East Koya Village, which is considered to disturb the cleanliness and comfort of the surrounding environment.
“Currently there is an accumulation of garbage in East Koya, precisely on Jalan Kuburan Kelurahan Koya Timur so that it disturbs the cleanliness and comfort of the surrounding environment,” said Abisai Rollo in Jayapura, Sunday.
According to him, waste management should not be focused only on the city center. Suburbal areas such as Muara Tami District must also receive the same attention to create a clean and healthy environment evenly.
He emphasized that DLHK should ensure that the garbage transport fleet operates routinely and scheduled in Muara Tami to prevent the recurrence of accumulation.
“Then make sure the garbage transport fleet operates regularly in Muara Tami District so that there is no more garbage accumulation. We hope all areas are clean,” he said.
In addition to the improvement from the government side, the Mayor also reminded the importance of the participation of the community in maintaining the cleanliness of the environment. He appealed to residents, especially in East Koya, to be more disciplined in throwing garbage according to the schedule that has been set and not littering.
As a surveillance measure, the Jayapura City Government plans to install surveillance cameras (CCTV) in locations that often become waste accumulation points. The installation of CCTV is expected to be able to monitor waste disposal activities as well as increase residents’ awareness of the importance of maintaining the environment’s cleanliness.
This effort is part of the Jayapura City Government’s commitment in creating better environmental governance and creating a clean, healthy, and comfortable city for the entire community.
