Jayapura City Government Hands Over 38 Livable Houses for Papuan Indigenous People

Jayapura – The Jayapura City Government (Pemkot) once again shows its commitment in improving the welfare of the indigenous Papuan people through the delivery of 38 units of habitable houses spread across 14 villages and eight sub-districts in the Jayapura City area.

The delivery of the habitable house was symbolically carried out in Skouw Yambe Village, Muara Tami District, on Tuesday. This activity is part of the local government’s efforts in providing safe, healthy, and comfortable housing for the Papuan indigenous people.

The Mayor of Jayapura, Abisai Rollo in his speech said that the habitable house development program is one of the priorities of the Jayapura City Government in supporting the improvement of the quality of life of the community, especially the indigenous people of Papua.

“This habitable house program is a form of local government’s commitment to improve community welfare. Each village gets two units of houses, and today we are present at Skouw Yambe Village to symbolically hand over and inaugurate the house that has been built,” said Abisai Rollo.

He hopes that the assistance of the house can be used well by the beneficiaries and become a place to live that provides a sense of security and comfort for the family.

Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Area (PUPR) of Jayapura City, Asep Khalid, explained that the construction of livable houses aims to provide housing that meets the standards of suitability, health, safety, and comfort.

“This program is designed to improve the quality of community housing, especially for low-income people. With a decent house, it is hoped that the quality of life and welfare of the community can continue to increase,” explained Asep Khalid.

Through this program, the Jayapura City Government hopes to reduce the number of uninhabitable houses as well as strengthen sustainable development efforts that are oriented towards the welfare of the indigenous Papuan people in Jayapura City.
