Yahukimo — Another incident of violence against migrant residents has occurred in Yahukimo Regency. A man named Jako, a resident from South Sulawesi of the Selayar ethnic group, became a victim of assault allegedly carried out by sympathizers of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Kodap XVI Yahukimo. The attack took place at a kiosk located on Jalan Baliem, Dekai District, on Thursday (October 30, 2025), around 8:10 p.m. Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT). The victim suffered serious injuries from a sharp weapon and was immediately evacuated to the Emergency Unit (ER) of Dekai Regional Hospital (RSUD Dekai), Yahukimo, for intensive medical treatment.
According to gathered information, the perpetrator allegedly arrived suddenly and attacked the victim without a clear motive before fleeing the scene. Security forces suspect that the act was carried out by sympathizers of KKB Kodap XVI Yahukimo, intending to provoke instability in Yahukimo and surrounding areas.
In response to the incident, personnel from the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 (Ops Damai Cartenz), together with Yahukimo District Police (Polres Yahukimo), immediately secured the crime scene (TKP), conducted investigations, and launched a pursuit of the perpetrator.
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025 (Kaops), Brigadier General of Police (Brigjen Pol) Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that any form of violence against civilians will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
“We have deployed a team to investigate this case and ensure that the perpetrator is apprehended soon. Any action that threatens public safety will not be tolerated,” emphasized Brigadier General of Police Faizal Ramadhani.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police (Kombes Pol) Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., affirmed that his team continues to strengthen coordination with Yahukimo District Police to maintain regional security stability.
“We are increasing patrols and preventive measures throughout Yahukimo. Security forces will continue to be present to protect all citizens, both indigenous Papuans and migrants,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga.
The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 urges the public to remain calm, avoid being provoked by unverified information, and entrust the legal process entirely to the authorities. The security forces are committed to maintaining peace and order throughout the land of Papua.
