Jayapura – Personnel from the Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua), consisting of Yalimo Police (Polres Yalimo) and the Papua Brimob Task Force (BKO), carried out the removal of a roadblock previously erected by residents in Hobakma Village, Elelim District, Yalimo Regency, on Thursday (September 18). The blockade was a consequence of the recent unrest that struck Yalimo Regency.
The road-clearing process was conducted through persuasive and dialogical approaches together with local community leaders, ensuring that the activity proceeded safely and in an orderly manner. Police personnel emphasized the importance of keeping public roads accessible for all residents to support the smooth flow of daily activities.
In addition to dismantling the blockade, Yalimo Police and Papua Brimob personnel worked together to remove trees and wooden materials obstructing the road. This effort was aimed at restoring traffic flow to normal and enabling residents to resume their activities without hindrance.
Separately, Head of Public Relations for Papua Police, Commissioner Cahyo Sukarnito, S.I.K., M.K.P., stated that the joint personnel’s action to reopen the road was a concrete step toward restoring a conducive situation.
“This road-clearing effort demonstrates the synergy between the police and the community. We hope that with the reopening of this access road, residents’ activities can return to normal and stability in Yalimo will continue to improve,” he said.
With the reopening of the road in Hobakma Village, community mobility and local economic activity are expected to gradually recover. Papua Police also urged residents not to be easily provoked and to prioritize dialogue in resolving issues to ensure security and order in Yalimo Regency.
