Papua Tengah Provincial Government Encourages Youth to Be at the Forefront of Regional Development

Nabire – The Papua Tengah Provincial Government held a working meeting (raker) in Timika, Mimika Regency, from September 8–10, 2025. The forum focused on strengthening the sectors of youth, sports, tourism, and the creative economy.

The Governor’s Expert Staff for Governance, Politics, and Law, Marthen Ukago, emphasized that youth must become the main driving force of regional development. According to him, this working meeting is a strategic step to formulate more targeted policies across these four key sectors.

“Youth are the economic engine of Papua Tengah’s future. Therefore, all programs must truly reach and empower young people, especially indigenous Papuans,” Marthen said in his remarks on Monday (September 8, 2025).

He further explained that this year’s meeting focuses on four priority agendas: expanding the reach of youth programs, improving sports achievements and facilities, developing tourism based on local wisdom, and strengthening the creative economy sector.

Marthen expressed his hope that the participants could produce development strategies that are both applicable and sustainable.
“Collaboration and synergy among all parties are the key to making Papua Tengah a progressive, competitive, and sustainable province,” he stressed.
