Commemorating Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force Invites Iwaka Children to Learn the Meaning of Freedom

Mimika, Central Papua – To mark the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, the Public Relations Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz (Posko Timika) held a community engagement activity with children in Tapamuya Village, Iwaka District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua. The event, which began at 3:00 p.m. local time, was led by Iptu I Gde Pradana Sthirabudhi, S.Ds., accompanied by Bripda Irgi Alamsyah and Bripda Alfesa Hafiz, on Sunday (August 17, 2025).

The program included the distribution of bottled milk, candies, and Indonesian red-and-white flags, along with a warm and friendly discussion session with the children. This initiative reflects a persuasive and humanistic approach by security forces to strengthen ties with the community, particularly the younger generation in Papua.

Chief of Operation Peace Cartenz, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., together with Deputy Chief Kombes Pol. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that the activity demonstrates the presence of security personnel as part of the community, not merely as guardians of stability.

“We want to show that security forces are not only here for law enforcement, but also as friends and companions to the people, especially children. Education and awareness of the meaning of Indonesia’s independence must be introduced from an early age, as it is the foundation for the nation’s future,” stated Brigjen Faizal Ramadhani.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations Task Force, Kombes Pol. Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., highlighted the importance of such activities as a long-term social investment.

“Togetherness like this has a profound impact in shaping the character of young generations. With a friendly and compassionate approach, we hope Papuan children will grow with confidence, patriotism, and the spirit to help build a better Indonesia,” said Kombes Yusuf Sutejo.

The event was warmly welcomed by the Tapamuya community. Children appeared cheerful and proud as they received the red-and-white flags, a symbol of love for the homeland. Nationalistic spirit blossomed through simple gestures that touched their hearts.

Through these human-centered programs, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force continues to foster closeness and strengthen emotional bonds with the people of Papua, as part of its peaceful and inclusive strategy in the region.
