SENTANI\u2013 The Jayapura Regency Government in Papua continues to encourage the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as a key sector in strengthening the regional economy and fostering greater economic independence among local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abdul Rahman Basri, Assistant II for Economic and Development Affairs at the Jayapura Regency Secretariat, stated that MSMEs make a significant contribution to regional economic growth. Beyond driving local economic activities, the sector also plays an important role in creating employment opportunities, increasing household income, and improving community welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that Jayapura Regency has considerable local economic potential, particularly in agriculture, plantations, and fisheries. These sectors need to be developed optimally by strengthening local businesses so they can produce value-added products with greater competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further emphasized that MSME development should not focus solely on increasing the number of businesses but must also be supported by improvements in human resource capacity, product quality, brand identity, and the use of digital technology for marketing activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement was delivered during the MSME Digital Literacy Workshop organized by the Jayapura Regency Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) in Sentani on Wednesday (November 4, 2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through this initiative, the Jayapura Regency Government hopes that MSME players will become more capable of utilizing technological advancements to expand their market reach, improve business quality, and introduce regional flagship products to a wider audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
