JAYAPURA – The equal distribution of electricity access to remote areas is one of the focuses of PT PLN Regional Parent Unit (UIW) Papua and West Papua in supporting the improvement of public welfare in Papua. Through the development of electrical infrastructure in various locations, PLN seeks to ensure that the benefits of energy can be felt more widely, along with the development of technology and a more environmentally friendly electricity-based lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The commitment is in line with the implementation of Papua Spark 2026 which carries the theme of Charging the Future, Empowering Papua. The activity that took place since October 23, 2026 became a means to introduce the utilization of electricity in modern life as well as encouraging the development of the electricity ecosystem in Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
General Manager of PLN UIW Papua and West Papua, Roberth Rumsaur, said that the development of electrical technology needs to go hand in hand with efforts to expand electricity services, especially for people who live in areas that have not been optimally reached by the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Roberth, Papua Spark 2026 not only displays the development of electricity-based technology, but also becomes a space to strengthen the commitment to equitable access to energy for the people in Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The activity presents various agendas, ranging from electric vehicle exhibition, smart living room concept demonstration, to micro, small, and medium business exhibition (UMKM) that utilizes electrical equipment in business activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the exhibition, the public can get to know more about the application of electricity in various aspects of life, from transportation to household activities and business development. On the other hand, PLN assesses that the expansion of electricity access remains an important part so that the development of the technology can provide more even benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roberth explained, through the Village Electricity Program with Additional Expenditure Budget (ABT) 2025, PLN has built electricity network infrastructure in 128 locations with the potential for an addition of 5,659 customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development includes medium voltage networks, low voltage networks, and distribution substations as part of efforts to expand the range of electricity services to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Especially in Papua Province, as many as 27 villages have been successfully supplied with electricity through the operation of the built network. From the development, as many as 183 customers have enjoyed electricity services, while 732 other potential customers are still in the process of connecting through the New Electricity Install Assistance Program (BPBL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The achiement shows that the expansion of electricity access is not only related to infrastructure development, but also opens up opportunities for the community to utilize energy in daily activities, education, and local economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through Papua Spark 2026 and various power grid development programs, PLN UIW Papua and West Papua encourage the development of an electrical ecosystem that not only follows technological advances, but also supports the equal distribution of energy services in Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
