WAMENA\u2013 The Jayawijaya Regency Government in Papua Pegunungan Province continues to improve the quality of education by strengthening the availability of teachers across the region. The presence of 90 teachers from the Indonesia Cerdas Foundation is expected to enhance teaching and learning activities while helping address teacher shortages, particularly in remote areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jayawijaya Regent Atenius Murip stated that the involvement of these teachers is part of the local government\u2019s efforts to expand access to education for children throughout the regency. Additional teaching personnel are considered essential to ensuring that learning activities run effectively and that educational services reach more communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the 90 teachers involved, 50 were assigned in 2025, followed by an additional 40 teachers in 2026. Together, they support educational services at 137 elementary and junior high schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The local government hopes that the placement of these teachers will help schools facing shortages of teaching staff. Through this initiative, students in both urban and remote areas are expected to have better opportunities to receive a proper education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to support from the government and the foundation, community participation is also considered important in creating a safe and conducive learning environment. Support from customary leaders, religious leaders, youth representatives, women’s representatives, and local communities is expected to help teachers carry out their responsibilities effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through collaboration among the local government, educational institutions, teachers, and communities, efforts to ensure more equitable access to education in Jayawijaya are expected to continue progressing.
