Wamena \u2013 The Highland Papua Provincial Government has identified Wamena Airport in Jayawijaya Regency as a primary driver of the economy in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Highland Papua Regional Secretary Elai Giban stated in a written release in Wamena on Friday that goods enter the Highland Papua region solely via air and land routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Land transportation has not yet been fully optimized due to the poor condition of some road sections; consequently, business operators more frequently utilize air routes\u2014specifically Wamena Airport\u2014to distribute goods to the Highland Papua region,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Elai, Wamena Airport serves as a logistics hub and supply chain driver, strengthening the value chain for local produce and fostering a sustainable market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We can state that Wamena Airport acts as a crucial driver for economic growth in the Highland Papua region,” he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that developing quality hospitality and accommodation infrastructure, alongside general infrastructure and logistics, would attract both investors and tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Building a synergistic business ecosystem that benefits the local community is essential, yet the local government cannot achieve this alone. Close partnerships between the government, the business sector, and the community are the key to successful regional development,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His administration is committed to listening to and acting upon feedback from business operators to enhance synergy and collaboration between the government and the private sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
