JAYAPURA, PAPUA – The Papua Provincial Government together with UNICEF strengthens collaboration in improving integrated nutrition services to ensure that the handling of nutritional problems can be carried out thoroughly and sustainably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The strengthening is carried out through the dissemination of strategic learning which is part of the effort to evaluate as well as increase the effectiveness of the nutrition service program that has been running in Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
General and Administrative Assistant of Setda Papua, Suzana Wanggai, said that nutrition issues are closely related to the development of human resource quality so that its handling requires the involvement of various sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Nutrition issues are not only the responsibility of the health sector, but also part of human development that requires cross-sector collaboration,” said Suzana in Jayapura, Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, integrated nutrition services need to cover various aspects from the target identification stage to monitoring and further handling. This approach is expected to ensure that the community obtains services according to their needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A number of services that are part of the strengthening include the utilization of nutritious local food, counseling, growth monitoring, anemia prevention, referral, and food security improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, the aspects of clean water and sanitation are also an important part in supporting the success of nutrition interventions. The strengthening of service quality is carried out in various facilities, including public health centers, posyandu, and schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Suzana assesses that service integration is important because nutritional issues have various interrelated factors. With the coordination between sectors, the programs that are carried out are expected not to run alone, but support each other in achieving the goals of health development and human resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, UNICEF Papua Representative Office, Aminuddin Muhammad Ramdan, said that UNICEF is ready to support local governments in strengthening various programs that have been running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“UNICEF as a government development partner is very ready to help strengthen the programs that have been running,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The support is expected to strengthen the capacity of local governments as well as encourage the utilization of learning from various programs to improve the quality of nutrition services at the community level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the collaboration of the Papua Provincial Government and UNICEF, the strengthening of nutrition services is expected to be carried out in a more integrated manner, by involving the health, education, food, sanitation, and other related elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
