It also requires better teacher preparedness, active parental involvement, and clear access to assessment and therapy services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Victor Fun, Assistant III for General Administration at the Central Papua Regional Secretariat, who represented Central Papua Governor Meki Nawipa, emphasized the importance of changing public perceptions toward children with special needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FGD identified three main targets: developing an operational structure and functions for Disability Service Units (ULD) that are easily accessible to the public; establishing coordinated and straightforward pathways for further assistance and therapy for children with special needs; and strengthening cooperation among relevant sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis includes building cross-sectoral synergy by involving the health office, social affairs office, women and child protection agencies, the Regional Development Planning Agency, schools, professionals, and families,\u201d he said on Wednesday (September 16, 2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The inclusive approach was reflected in the participation of various stakeholders in the forum, including representatives from government agencies, healthcare workers and therapists, Special Needs Education Support Teachers (GPK), parents, and children with special needs themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Central Papua administration expects this cross-sector collaboration to strengthen support services for children with special needs, both in schools and within families, while creating a more accessible, equal and sustainable inclusive education system across the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Central Papua, Indonesia \u2013 The Central Papua Provincial Government is strengthening its commitment to ensuring equal access to education for all children, including children with special needs, through efforts to develop a more inclusive education system.
