Wamena\u2013 The Jayawijaya Regency Government, Papua Pegunungan, encourages the young generation to not only become job seekers, but also to be able to create business opportunities through capacity building and entrepreneurial skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The effort was carried out through the Youth and Sports Service (Dispora) of Jayawijaya Regency by holding a training for young entrepreneurs attended by 35 youths from 40 districts. The activity that took place on September 9-11, 2026 is part of the local government’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources (SDM) for youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jayawijaya Regent’s Expert Staff for Community and Human Resources, Natalis Mumpu, said that the development of entrepreneurship is a strategic step to encourage youth independence as well as take advantage of various potentials that the region has.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We give our appreciation to the Jayawijaya Regency Dispora who has carried out these activities as a form of local government attention in encouraging the young generation to develop their potential and independence through entrepreneurship,” said Natalis in a written statement in Wamena, Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, the training should not be limited to activities for three days. The knowledge and skills obtained by participants must be applied in real life by starting to design, run and develop the business sustainably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This training should not only be seen as an activity for three days. This must be the first step for participants to develop the business sustainably,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Natalis assesses that Jayawijaya youth has diverse potential and can be developed into economic opportunities. The difference in ability and interest can actually become a strength if directed through training, guidance and opportunities to develop a business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He hopes that the participants can utilize the knowledge gained to develop business ideas according to their respective potentials, including by utilizing local resources available in their environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The young generation of Mountainous Papua, especially Jayawijaya Regency, has different potentials and abilities. Therefore, the potential must continue to be developed so that it can become an economic force and encourage youth independence,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Strengthening youth capacity through entrepreneurship is also considered to be able to open up more jobs in the region. Young people who are able to build a business are expected not only to earn income for themselves, but also to create job opportunities for the people around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Jayawijaya Regency Government through Dispora is also expected to continue to present a sustainable coaching program, so that participants do not stop at the training stage, but get assistance in developing businesses, expanding markets and improving product quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
