Jayapura \u2013 Papua Governor Mathius D. Fakhiri has urged district and city governments across the province to accelerate accountability reports on the use of Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds to ensure the timely disbursement of subsequent funding stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fakhiri said accountability for the use of the budget is one of the key requirements in the process of distributing the next phase of Special Autonomy funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that all regional leaders are already aware of the established mechanism, under which funds that have been received must first be properly accounted for before the next stage of disbursement can proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe ask all regional governments to pay close attention to this matter so that the next stage of funding distribution is not delayed,\u201d he said in Jayapura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Fakhiri, the Papua Provincial Government has completed several processes related to the distribution of the second phase of the Special Autonomy funds and hopes that the subsequent stages can proceed without delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe expect the third phase and additional funding to move forward simultaneously so that by the end of the year, or at the latest by November, all of the funds can be properly accounted for,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The governor expressed optimism that district and city governments would comply with the established procedures and complete their accountability reports regarding the use of the funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that Special Autonomy funds are allocated to several priority sectors, particularly education and healthcare, which remain among the main areas of focus for regional governments in utilizing the funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Previously, Deputy Home Affairs Minister Ribka Haluk urged regional governments across Papua to accelerate the distribution of the second phase of Special Autonomy funds for the 2026 fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the distribution of the second-phase funds, amounting to 45 percent of the allocation, should have been completed by June. However, as of the end of August, several regions had yet to finalize the process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
