Jayapura – Efforts to improve the quality of public health continue to be carried out by the Jayapura City Government (Pemkot) through the provision of appropriate sanitation facilities. One of the real steps is realized by the construction of Healthy Bath, Wash, Kakus (MCK) facilities in the Kampung Tiba-Tiba area, Yobe Village, Abepura District, as part of the strategy to create a clean environment while supporting the acceleration of the decrease in stunting rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The construction of the facility is the result of collaboration between the Jayapura City Government, Representatives of the Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga)\/BKKBN Papua, and Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI). The cross-sector synergy is expected to be able to increase community access to decent and sustainable sanitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Deputy Mayor of Jayapura, Rustan Saru, said that the availability of adequate sanitation facilities has an important role in improving the degree of public health. According to him, there is still limited access to decent sanitation is one of the factors that contributes to the high number of stunting rates in a number of regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Unworthy sanitation is one of the causes of the still high stunting rate. Therefore, the existence of a healthy toilet is very important to prevent the spread of various diseases, such as diarrhea, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the environment,” said Rustan in Jayapura, Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that a clean environment will have a direct impact on public health, especially for children who are still growing up. With the reduced risk of disease due to poor sanitation, children are expected to be able to absorb nutritional intake optimally so as to support their growth and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“With the existence of this MCK Sehat, we hope to be able to break the chain of disease transmission so that children can absorb good nutrition and grow up healthy,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to presenting basic facilities, the development of MCK Sehat is also part of the effort to build public awareness about the importance of clean and healthy living behavior. The government hopes that the public can make good use of the facility while maintaining the cleanliness of the environment together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through collaboration between the government, ministry, and the business world, the Jayapura City Government is optimistic that the quality of public sanitation will continue to improve.
