Jayapura – Migrants from mountainous regions living in Jayapura City are urged to strengthen their unity and not be easily swayed by the various provocative issues circulating about Papua.
This was conveyed by Oni Wantik, Pastor of the Kingmi Jerusalem Church in Harapan Village, in response to the current information dynamics in Papua.
“Therefore, maintaining stability, security, and public order (kamtibmas) is a shared responsibility of all residents,” Oni emphasized in a written message on Tuesday (July 21, 2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oni reiterated the importance of the presence of mountain residents in the provincial capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, the majority of people who come to this city are migrants carrying out an important mission to improve their standard of living and build a better future.
Therefore, harmony among residents must be a top priority and must not be undermined by hoaxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The community must maintain togetherness, respect one another, and not be easily influenced or provoked by information whose veracity is unclear,” Oni reminded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to appealing to residents, Oni also highlighted the importance of strategic collaboration between local governments and religious leaders in maintaining regional stability.
This synergy is considered crucial for protecting the community from the negative influence of groups seeking to divide unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government, along with church pastors and other religious leaders, is expected to continue providing intensive guidance and support to congregations and the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The active role of religious leaders in the field is believed to be crucial in providing correct understanding, calming the atmosphere, and strengthening the community’s moral foundations amidst the flood of information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through a humanistic approach and consistent education from church pulpits, the community is expected to be able to filter every piece of information they receive wisely.
