Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Student Cultural Creativity Festival in Nabire on Saturday, Nawipa emphasized that educational institutions should not only focus on students’ academic performance but also nurture values and competencies that enable them to thrive in a rapidly changing world while preserving their cultural identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“In today’s rapidly evolving era, schools should not only focus on students’ academic abilities but also shape their character and skills,” Nawipa said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the governor, students in Central Papua must be equipped to become intelligent, disciplined, confident, culturally aware, and adaptable individuals without losing their identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of its commitment to improving educational quality, the Central Papua Provincial Government continues to support programs that foster students’ creativity, talents, and potential across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nawipa praised the Central Papua Education and Culture Office for organizing the Student Cultural Creativity Festival, describing it as a concrete initiative that provides students with opportunities to express creativity, cultural values, artistic talents, and innovation while strengthening character development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The initiative by the Central Papua Education and Culture Office to organize the Student Cultural Creativity Festival is a concrete step that enables students to express their creativity, arts, culture, and innovation while building character,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the festival also teaches students to showcase their abilities, appreciate the learning process, develop discipline, and strengthen teamwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Nawipa stressed that the event should not remain a ceremonial activity. He called on the Education and Culture Office to ensure continuous follow-up through sustainable talent development programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“There should be follow-up efforts through the development of students’ interests and talents, mapping participants’ potential, documenting their work, and providing structured and sustainable platforms for them to showcase their achievements,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The governor also highlighted that improving the quality of young generations requires collaboration among the government, schools, parents, community leaders, and students to ensure effective and sustainable educational development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Festival Committee Chair Deni Tenouye said the event brought together hundreds of senior high school and vocational school students from eight regencies across Central Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The festival featured a variety of competitions, including contemporary dance, local acoustic music, cultural exhibition booths, fashion shows, local culinary creations, and storytelling contests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Tenouye, the festival was designed to strengthen young people’s identity, explore students’ creative potential, and preserve the cultural values of Central Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
