{"id":38014,"date":"2026-06-07T12:07:39","date_gmt":"2026-06-07T03:07:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.suaranewspapua.com\/?p=38014"},"modified":"2026-06-07T12:07:41","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T03:07:41","slug":"hundreds-of-mapega-program-teachers-sent-to-paniai-central-papua-a-solution-to-the-teacher-crisis-in-55-3t-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/suaranewspapua.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/07\/hundreds-of-mapega-program-teachers-sent-to-paniai-central-papua-a-solution-to-the-teacher-crisis-in-55-3t-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds of Mapega Program Teachers Sent to Paniai, Central Papua, a Solution to the Teacher Crisis in 55 3T Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paniai &#8211; The Paniai Regency Education Office provided training and distributed assignment notes to 132 contract teachers from the Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged (3T) areas on Friday (June 5, 2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The presence of these contract teachers is an initiative of the Central Papua Provincial Government aimed at breaking the chain of teacher shortages that have hampered the quality of education in remote areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government applies strict qualifications in the recruitment of teachers, known as &#8220;staff teachers,&#8221; recruited through the Mapega (Advancing Free Education for Children) program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prospective teachers must be native to the local village, with a clan-based selection process and have a minimum educational background of a Bachelor of Education (S.Pd).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This policy ensures the continuity of the learning process, as teachers have strong emotional and cultural ties to the local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This assignment prioritizes elementary school (SD) as the primary foundation for children&#8217;s education in Paniai Regency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Paniai Regency Education Office is allocating teachers proportionally to 24 districts based on the level of teacher shortage in each educational unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Acting Head of the Paniai Regency Education Office, Agus Kobepa, emphasized the importance of this briefing as mental and administrative preparation before the official placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He confirmed that the hundreds of teachers will immediately go into the field to reactivate empty classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We have accepted 132 contract teachers in Paniai Regency, and the notification letter states that they will be placed in 24 districts within Paniai Regency,&#8221; Agus explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agus added that the placement notes are distributed to 55 schools that have been experiencing a shortage of teaching staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The distribution system varies between two and three teachers per school to ensure an effective teaching and learning process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We do have a shortage of teachers in those 55 schools, so today we have filled the gap effectively.
