Jayapura – The damage to the sports facilities that occurred during the chaos of the match in Papua became a serious concern for the Papua Provincial Government. The incident is considered not only to harm the government, but also has a direct impact on the community who have been using sports facilities for various activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Papua Provincial Government also invites the entire community to be more concerned in maintaining sports facilities that have been built with large costs and considerable standards. The facility is considered as a common asset that has long-term benefits for the young generation of Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Acting Regional Secretary of Papua, Christian Sohilait, regretted the destruction of the stadium and vehicles during the commotion. According to him, public facilities should be maintained together because they are built for the benefit of the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The sports facility is a common property that must be maintained for future generations,” he said in Jayapura, Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that sports should be a space to unite the community, not a trigger for actions that destroy public facilities. Because of that, the public is expected to be able to enjoy the match in an orderly manner, maintain emotions, and obey the rules that apply in order to create a safe and comfortable atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Christian, the condition of good sports facilities is very important to support community activities, starting from athlete coaching, daily sports activities, to other public services. Damage to facilities due to irresponsible actions will actually hinder its utilization for the community itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Sports and Youth Office, Laurens Wantik, reminded that Lukas Enembe Stadium is one of the best stadiums in Indonesia built with large investments and international standard facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, the existence of modern sports facilities in Papua is a pride that must be maintained together. He hopes that the public will have more concern for the sports facilities that have been provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Several sports facilities in Papua are already of international standards so they need joint attention and care so that they are maintained and can be used in the long term,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Papua Provincial Government hopes that the incident will be a common lesson so that all elements of the community are more aware of the importance of maintaining public facilities.
