Pegunungan Bintang \u2013 Personnel of the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2026 conducted community patrols in Kiwirok District, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, on Sunday (March 29), as part of efforts to maintain security while building direct communication with local communities in the highlands of Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The activities were carried out at several community hubs, including residential areas and traditional markets. During the patrols, personnel engaged in direct dialogue with residents to better understand their current conditions, ranging from concerns over security disturbances to basic needs in their daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A local resident encountered near the market stated that the presence of security personnel now feels different compared to before. \u201cNow they come more often, ask about our situation, not just pass by. So we can share if there are any problems,\u201d the resident said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kiwirok itself is one of the areas that has faced security challenges in recent years, including disturbances from armed groups that have affected community activities, such as limited mobility, disrupted trade, and restricted access to public services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this context, the patrols are not solely focused on security measures but also serve as a space for interaction. Personnel were seen helping residents carry goods, greeting children, and engaging in casual conversations with people carrying out their daily activities. These simple interactions are part of a broader approach aimed at gradually building trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2026, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., explained that the human-centered approach is implemented through direct engagement with the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese patrols are not only about maintaining security, but also about establishing two-way communication. Our personnel go directly to the field, engage in dialogue, and listen to the needs of the community so that our actions are well-targeted,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2026, Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that the activity is part of preventive measures tailored to local conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe prioritize a persuasive approach through direct interaction. With established communication, potential security disturbances can be anticipated earlier, while also providing space for the community to feel safer in carrying out their activities,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the activity, community life\u2014such as trading in the market and social interactions\u2014was observed to continue without disruption. Several vendors remained open until midday, while children began to resume activities around their neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
