Wamena \u2013 The Papua Highlands Provincial Government, through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), has distributed logistical assistance as a tangible expression of care and the government\u2019s presence for residents affected by a fire disaster in Karubaga District, Tolikara Regency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Acting Head of BPBD Papua Highlands, Motius Weya, said the assistance is expected to help ease the burden of communities who lost their homes and belongings due to the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn accordance with leadership instructions, we moved swiftly to distribute aid in the form of 120 tarpaulins, 36 lantern lamps, and 10 sacks of rice weighing 5 kilograms each. We hope this assistance can be used optimally by our brothers and sisters who have been affected,\u201d Motius said in Wamena on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that since receiving reports of the incident, BPBD Papua Highlands personnel were immediately deployed to the disaster site to ensure that initial response efforts were carried out and residents\u2019 urgent needs were met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI personally delivered the assistance on Monday (2\/2) to the fire-affected area, while other BPBD personnel remain on site to continue assisting the community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BPBD Papua Highlands continues to coordinate with the Tolikara Regency Government and other relevant stakeholders to collect data on the affected victims and ensure that follow-up response measures can be carried out effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOnce we receive a complete report from the field, it will be submitted to the governor to determine the next steps for the recovery of the affected residents,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, disaster response is a shared responsibility between the regency and provincial governments, making continuous coordination and communication essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
