Action coordinator Dimas stated the decision was made to help maintain security and public order in Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWith this, I declare that we, Garda Papua, will not carry out the action because the current security situation in Papua is stable,\u201d Dimas said in a press statement on Sunday (Aug. 31).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained that the decision came after field reports indicated the demonstration might be exploited by irresponsible groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe do not want our movement to be taken advantage of by individuals who have no genuine interest in contributing to Papua\u2019s development,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dimas also expressed his appreciation to all members and supporters who had prepared for the event, adding that he hoped Papua\u2019s peaceful situation would continue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jayapura \u2013 A planned candlelight vigil organized by the Papua chapter of the United Motorcycle Alliance (Garda) has been officially called off.
