Jakarta, – President Prabowo Subianto has granted amnesty to six individuals convicted of non-violent treason originating from Papua and Ambon. The decision is seen as a symbolic gesture aimed at strengthening national unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister of Law and Human Rights, Supratman Andi Agtas, stated that the amnesty serves as a message of peace and a call for all elements of the nation to come together, despite ongoing unresolved issues. \u201cYes, there are still problems, but it’s better if we unite. This is also a message for all of society,\u201d said Supratman, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday(August 5, 2025)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Josephien Tanasale, from Ambon, detained at Class III Prison in Ambon<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Viktor Makamuke Bin Paulus (deceased), from Papua, detained at Class IIB Prison in Sorong<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alex Bless, from Maybrat, Papua, detained at Class I Prison in Ujung Pandang<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yance Kambuaya alias Yance, from Maybrat, Papua, detained at Class I Prison in Ujung Pandang<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adolof Nauw, from Maybrat, Papua, detained at Class I Prison in Ujung Pandang<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hilkia Isir, from Maybrat, Papua, detained at Class I Prison in Ujung Pandang<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The granting of amnesty is considered a humanitarian and reconciliation approach toward groups that have long been viewed as being in opposition to the state, particularly in the Papua region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
