Along with one other candidate, Ofel represents the Central Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua Tengah) in the selection process held at the Akpol Complex in Semarang, Central Java, on Monday (July 28, 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ofel is not just any ordinary candidate. He is a recipient of a scholarship from the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) to attend the prestigious Taruna Nusantara High School. He earned the scholarship thanks to his academic and non-academic achievements during junior high school in Puncak Jaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI attended elementary and junior high school in Puncak Jaya, Papua. For high school, I went to Taruna Nusantara. I received a scholarship from the Ministry of Defense based on my academic and non-academic performance in junior high,\u201d said Ofel when met at the selection site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His motivation to join the Police Academy is not solely career-driven\u2014it stems from a deep calling and his love for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). Ofel hopes to become a source of inspiration for young people in Central Papua, especially those in remote areas like Puncak Jaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have a strong desire to serve the NKRI and to motivate younger children in the remote areas of Papua. What inspired me was my late grandfather, who served as a police officer with the rank of AKP in Jayawijaya. My father is a TNI soldier with the rank of Sertu (Sergeant), and my mother is an elementary school teacher in Mulia, Puncak Jaya,\u201d Ofel shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He revealed that this year marks his third attempt at the Police Academy selection process. Despite failing twice before, he never gave up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is my third time applying to Akpol. I grew up in Puncak Jaya, where I witnessed many problems being resolved with the help of the police. The police play a vital role in helping the community in my area,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 20-year-old explained that he continuously evaluates his academic abilities to achieve optimal results. He follows a disciplined routine of studying and physical training\u2014morning, afternoon, and evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor my preparation\u2014from the first attempt to the third\u2014I arranged a schedule for study and physical training every morning, afternoon, and evening.
