Wamena, Papua Highlands \u2014 The swift and responsive action of the joint forces from Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 and Jayawijaya Police produced positive results in de-escalating a potential conflict between congregations at the Hubula Region Baptist Church, Sinakma Village, Wamena City, on Sunday morning (July 13, 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The altercation was reported to have occurred around 08:02 Eastern Indonesian Time (WIT), triggered by disagreements over worship schedules between the Papua Baptist Congregation and the West Papua Baptist Congregation. Tensions escalated when one party barricaded the church doors from the inside. As a result of the incident, two church window panes and two pastoral house windows were reported damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, joint personnel were immediately deployed to the scene. The Jayawijaya Police team led by KBO Sat Intelkam Ipda I Gede Cipta Adi P approached both sides for dialogue. This was followed by further persuasive mediation led by the Chief of Operations for Jayawijaya Police along with members of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, ultimately bringing the situation under control peacefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Head of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., expressed his appreciation for the swift work of his personnel on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis handling demonstrates that the synergistic collaboration between Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 and the Jayawijaya Police is highly effective in preventing horizontal conflicts. We will continue to prioritize a human-centered approach,\u201d emphasized Brigadier General Faizal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations for Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., stressed that the conflict resolution was carried out in a balanced and transparent manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have facilitated communication between both sides to prevent any acts of violence. Both groups have now agreed to pursue mediation at the Jayawijaya Police Headquarters,\u201d explained Chief Commissioner Yusuf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thanks to the successful dispersal of the disturbance without casualties and the continuation of the mediation process, the situation around the Sinakma Baptist Church has returned to being safe and conducive.
