Jayapura – The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Representative for Papua recorded that from January 1 to June 1 2024, as many as 41 cases of violence occurred in various regions in the Land of Papua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was conveyed by the Head of Representative of Komnas HAM Papua, Frits Ramandey, in a press conference with media crew at the Komnas HAM Office, Dock V, Lower Jayapura City, Monday (3\/6\/2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In general, the civil and political rights situation in the first semester of 2024, violent cases\/conflicts, especially armed violence, is still the same as in previous years,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramandey said that the trend of escalating violence in Papua is still continuing and tends to increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Of the 41 cases of violence, 25 cases were dominated by armed contact and shootings (single attacks).”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Then there were 10 cases of abuse and 7 cases of destruction, where one incident could lead to more than one act of violence,” continued Ramandey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, of the number of cases of violence, Intan Jaya Regency was the area with the highest number of cases, namely 8 cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from that, followed by Paniai and Yahukimo with 8 cases, Puncak with 5 cases, Bintang Mountains and Nabire with 3 cases each, Puncak Jaya, Keerom and Jayawijaya with 2 cases each and Dogiyai, Jayapura, Mimika and Maybrat each 1 case each.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
