Bulog Papua Strengthens Micro Farmer Business, 179,70 Tons of SPHP Corn Has Been Distributed

JAYAPURA – Efforts to maintain the sustainability of the micro-scale laying hen farmers in Papua continue to be strengthened through the provision of feed raw materials at affordable prices. Perum Bulog Papua Regional Office noted that it had distributed 179.70 tons of corn from the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program to help meet the feed needs of farmers.

Regional Leader of Perum Bulog Papua, Chairul Mazhar, said that the distribution is part of the government’s support in maintaining the availability of feed corn as well as helping micro farmers control production costs.

Through the SPHP program, feed corn is provided at a price of Rp5,000 per kilogram in the Bulog warehouse for micro farmers who meet the requirements. This policy is expected to ease the burden of business costs, considering that feed is one of the main components in laying hen production.

Chairul explained, based on data until November 5, 2026, the realization of the second phase of SPHP corn distribution has reached 72,34 percent of the ceiling set at 248,40 tons. The achiement shows that efforts to fulfill the needs of feed corn for micro farmers in the Papua region continue.

According to him, the availability of feed raw materials with more affordable prices has an important role in maintaining the continuity of the livestock business. With more controlled production costs, farmers are expected to be able to maintain their business activities while supporting the availability of eggs for the community.

“Through the program, we provide feed corn at a price of Rp5,000 per kilogram in the Bulog warehouse for micro farmers according to the applicable provisions,” said Chairul.

He added, the distribution of SPHP corn is the result of government synergy through the Ministry of Agriculture, National Food Agency (Bapanas), Bulog, and BUMN food in strengthening the livestock ecosystem from upstream to downstream.

To ensure that the program runs according to the target, Bulog Papua will continue to coordinate with the government, Bapanas, food BUMN, and farmer cooperatives. The coordination is carried out so that the distribution takes place transparently, on target, and in accordance with the applicable provisions.

Previously, the synergy of support for micro laying hen farmers was also carried out through the BUMN Food Synergy activity with Micro Laying Chicken Farmers in East Koya Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Thursday (11/5/2026).

Through the corn SPHP program, Bulog hopes that the access of micro farmers to feed raw materials will be more maintained. The support is expected to be able to help maintain the sustainability of the livestock business as well as strengthen the supply of eggs to meet the needs of the community in Papua.
