Heram Youth Appreciates Uncovering of Illegal Firearms and Ammunition Trafficking Network in Jayapura

JAYAPURA – A youth representative from Heram, Oliver Kabe, has expressed his appreciation for the actions taken by the Operasi Damai Cartenz-2026 (Peaceful Cartenz Operation) Task Force, in collaboration with the Papua Regional Police, to uncover an alleged network involved in the trafficking of illegal firearms and ammunition in Jayapura.

Oliver believes that this law enforcement effort is crucial for breaking the chain of illegal firearms and ammunition distribution—items that could potentially be misused for acts of violence, thereby threatening public safety in the Land of Papua.

“We support the security forces in uncovering the network allegedly involved, apprehending those connected to the case, and processing them in accordance with the laws of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Oliver.

According to him, handling this case is a vital step toward preventing the proliferation of illegal firearms and ammunition. It is hoped that this measure will reduce the risk of weapon misuse, which could otherwise harm the public, particularly in the city of Jayapura.

He also expressed his hope that law enforcement authorities will continue to handle the case professionally, transparently, and responsibly, ensuring that the legal process follows established regulations and strengthens public trust in the security forces.

Furthermore, Oliver urged the entire community to play an active role in maintaining local security and to refrain from any involvement in the trafficking or possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.

He emphasized that maintaining public security and order requires the support of all elements—both security forces and the general public—to ensure that the situation in Jayapura remains safe and conducive.

“Let us work together to safeguard the Land of Papua. Security and peace are the responsibility of us all. Therefore, let us support one another, look after our communities, and take an active part in creating a safe environment for everyone,” he said.
