Jakarta – Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk has praised a number of regional governments in Papua that received awards at the 2026 Batch II Regional Papua Outstanding Regional Government Appreciation event organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs in Jakarta.
Haluk said the awards represented the central government’s recognition of the commitment and hard work of regional governments in improving public services and implementing development programs in their respective areas.
“I extend my appreciation to the regional heads in Papua who received recognition from the Ministry of Home Affairs for their achievements and work. This is a reflection of the commitment and hard work of regional governments,” Haluk said during the event.
According to Haluk, the achievements of regional governments in Papua deserve appreciation because government services and development programs continue to be implemented despite various challenges, including geographical conditions, limited infrastructure, and diverse social and cultural circumstances.
“I salute and pay tribute to the regional heads who continue to work optimally despite infrastructure limitations, geographical conditions, and extraordinary social and cultural challenges,” she said.
Haluk expressed hope that the awards would motivate regional governments to further improve their performance and the quality of public services. She also encouraged regional governments that have yet to receive recognition to continue making improvements and strengthening their performance.
“We know that there is still a great deal of work to be done. However, we remain optimistic that Papua will continue to progress from day to day,” Haluk said.
The awards were presented in several categories related to basic public services and development, including public access to education services, waste management and environmentally friendly areas, implementation of the Three Million Houses Development Program, as well as access to and quality of health services.
A number of regional governments across Papua received awards in these categories. Jayawijaya District, for example, received two awards: First Place in the category of population access to education services and Third Place in waste management and environmentally friendly areas at the district-capital level.
The awards are part of the government’s efforts to encourage regional administrations to improve governance, basic public services, and development programs that have a direct impact on communities.
