JAYAPURA – The Task Force Police Operation Peace Cartenz-2026 identified two people with the initials PN and KT who were seen in a video call clip that circulated on social media. Both of them are confirmed to be the wanted list of people (DPO) that has been identified by the police.
The identification was carried out after the police compared the video footage that was circulating with the data and characteristics that they had. The matching results become a development in the investigation to find out the existence of the two DPOs.
Head of Public Relations of Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., said that his party had confirmed the identity of the two people in the video after checking and matching with police data.
“After we juxtaposed with the data we have and the characteristics we have, we make sure that the two people are PN and KT who are included in our DPO,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf when confirmed by the media, Friday (11/9/2026).
PN and KT are suspected to be related to a number of violent cases in Papua. Both of them are members of the armed criminal group (KKB) Kodap III Ndugama Led by Egianus Kogoya and included in the police DPO list.
The two people are suspected of being involved in the shooting case that occurred during the Baliem Valley Cultural Festival (FBLB) in Jayawijaya Regency on August 8, 2026 which resulted in two civilians being injured by the shooting.
In addition, PN and KT also have involvement in the case of the Susi Air pilot hostage, Captain Philip Mark Mehrtens, in Nduga Regency on February 7, 2023. The pilot was then released on September 21, 2024.
“The involvement in the shooting case during the Baliem Valley Cultural Festival and the taking of the Susi Air pilot hostage is a development for us. From the results of this identification, we are still pursuing to find out the whereabouts of the perpetrators,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf.
In the shooting incident, the three victims were known to be trying to provide assistance in the form of piglets, inspecting the Printed Rice Field and providing Counseling related to the Farm. On the way back to Kab. Wamena, the vehicle they were riding in was allegedly intercepted by an armed group and ordered to stop.
The three victims were then asked to get out of the vehicle and led to the back of the vehicle. Not long after, three gunshots were heard. After shooting, the perpetrators fled from the scene.
Based on the results of the investigation and the initial information obtained by the police, the perpetrators were suspected of carrying two long-barreled firearms and a number of machetes when leaving the location.
The police are still investigating the series of incidents, including the motives and parties involved. One of the things that is developed is the suspicion that the action aims to disrupt the security and order of the community (kamtibmas) and cause fear in the community.
“Their target is to disturb the community and cause fear in the community. Because of that, we continue to pursue and develop to find out who is involved,” said Commissioner of Police Yusuf.
From the series of events that occurred, the Task Force Police Operation Peace Cartenz-2026 has thickened the strength of personnel in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency.
The thickening of the personnel was carried out to maintain the stability of the kamtibmas as well as support the search and pursuit process against PN, KT and other parties who are suspected of being involved.
“We continue to pursue and develop every information obtained to find out the whereabouts of the perpetrators. We also invite the public to look back at the impact of acts of terror and violence carried out by armed groups. All this time, the public has actually been the party that feels the impact of the threat and violence,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf.
The state has provided education facilities, health facilities, including adding public health centers so that people can live healthier, more productive and can work better. Therefore, do not let acts of terror and violence actually disturb the lives of the people who are building their area.

“The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force will not hesitate to give firm and measured action against those who threaten and terrorize the community. However, all actions are still carried out in accordance with the procedures and provisions of the applicable law,” he said.

Meanwhile, three bodies of shooting victims have been repatriated to their respective areas. One body has been returned on Thursday (10/9/2026), while the other two bodies were returned on Friday (11/9/2026).
Deputy Head of Operations Peace Cartenz-2026 Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., appealed to the people of Jayawijaya Regency, especially in Wamena, to remain calm and not easily provoked by unverified information.
“We urge the public to remain calm, not easily provoked, and not to spread information whose truth has not been confirmed,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma
He also asked the public who have information related to the whereabouts of the DPO or other information that can help the disclosure of the case to immediately convey it to the police.
“If the public has information related to the existence of the DPO or other things that can help the disclosure of this case, please submit it to the police. We guarantee the confidentiality of the information and identity of the information provider,” he said.
The Cartenz Peace Task Force appealed to the related government officers who will carry out activities in the field to coordinate first with the local security officers. If there is an activity from the service or related agency, we hope it can be conveyed and coordinated with the local authorities so that the security can be assisted.
The Task Force Police Operation Peace Cartenz-2026 ensured that the search for PN, KT and other parties who were suspected of being involved was still being carried out. Every information and evidence obtained will be developed to thoroughly reveal the shooting case of three civilians in Jayawijaya on September 9, 2026 and ensure that the responsible party is processed in accordance with the law.
