Ahead of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Anniversary, Paniai Police Step Up Security Through Patrols and Inspections

PANIAI – Ahead of the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, Paniai Police have strengthened preventive security measures through joint patrols and vehicle inspections at several locations within the jurisdiction of Paniai Police.

The activities are part of the police efforts to ensure that community activities ahead of the Independence Day celebrations take place safely and orderly. Joint personnel have been deployed to monitor public areas while anticipating potential criminal activities that could disrupt public security and order.

The patrol was led by Head of Operations at Paniai Police, AKP Selvinus P. Sahetapy, S.H., and involved personnel from several units, including the Traffic Unit, Criminal Investigation Unit, Narcotics Investigation Unit, Samapta Unit (Dalmas), as well as Paniai Police staff.

During the operation, officers monitored a number of roads and locations considered to require increased security attention. In addition to conducting patrols, personnel also carried out inspections of vehicles and the belongings of people passing through the area.

The inspections primarily aimed to prevent the possession or transportation of sharp weapons, dangerous objects, or other items that could potentially be used to commit criminal acts. The measure was taken as part of early detection and prevention efforts to minimize potential security disturbances.

Head of Operations at Paniai Police, AKP Selvinus P. Sahetapy, said the increased patrols were part of the police strategy to anticipate various forms of crime that could potentially occur within the Paniai Police jurisdiction.

“Today, we are conducting patrols and inspections together with Paniai Police personnel as a preventive measure against criminal activities that have recently become more prevalent in our jurisdiction. This is part of the preventive efforts we are carrying out,” AKP Selvinus said.

He explained that the patrols were not solely focused on enforcement. The presence of police officers among the community is also intended to provide a sense of security while discouraging potential criminal activity before it occurs.

During the operation, officers emphasized a human-centered approach while taking into account the circumstances and comfort of the public. Inspections were conducted proportionally, focusing on vehicle documents and equipment as well as belongings carried by motorists.

The increased police presence is also part of Paniai Police’s preparations for the expected rise in public mobility ahead of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day celebrations. With various community activities expected to increase, security monitoring and police presence are considered important to maintain a safe and stable environment.

Paniai Police said patrols and inspections would continue to be conducted periodically as a preventive measure. Police also urged residents to work together to maintain security by complying with applicable regulations, refraining from carrying sharp weapons without legitimate reasons, and immediately reporting any suspicious activities to authorities.

Through cooperation between the police and the community, security and public order in Paniai Regency are expected to remain stable, allowing residents to welcome and commemorate Indonesia’s 81st Independence Anniversary in a safe, orderly, and peaceful atmosphere while upholding the spirit of nationalism.
