Papuan Pegunungan Provincial Government Encourages Investment Through Business Partnership to Strengthen Regional Economic Growth

Wamena – The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Papua Pegunungan continues to strive to encourage regional economic growth by strengthening the investment climate through business partnerships. This step was carried out through the Investment Office and One-Stop Integrated Service (DPMPTSP) Papua Pegunungan which actively builds collaboration with business actors and promotes regional potential to investors.

The Head of DPMPTSP Papua Pegunungan, Suryani Yigibalom, said that investment promotion is one of the important strategies in improving the community’s economy. According to him, these efforts need to be made together with business partners so that the incoming investment can provide real benefits for regional development.

“Investment promotion must be carried out by involving business partnerships that can help economic growth in the Mountainous Papua region. One of the forms of investment promotion that we have done is the implementation of the UMKM Festival as an event to introduce the natural wealth, culture, and economic potential of the Mountains of Papua to the community and prospective investors,” said Suryani in a written statement in Wamena, Friday.

He explained that strengthening investment is part of the implementation of the vision and mission of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua Pegunungan in accelerating sustainable economic development. Therefore, DPMPTSP continues to strive to create a conducive investment climate through various promotion programs and partnerships.

According to Suryani, one of the sectors that has a strategic role in encouraging regional economic growth is the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). The existence of MSMEs is considered capable of becoming a local economic driver as well as opening up job opportunities and improving the welfare of the community.

“Regional economic growth can be done through various ways, one of which is by strengthening and developing the UMKM sector. With the support of investment and business partnership, MSMEs will have a greater opportunity to develop and increase the competitiveness of their products,” he explained.

Furthermore, he added that the implementation of economic festivals and MSMEs that have been carried out has become a forum for business actors to build a network of cooperation, collaborate, and present various innovations of local products that have added value.

Through these various efforts, the Papua Pegunungan Provincial Government hopes that the potential of natural resources, culture, and superior products of the region can be more widely known, so that it can attract investors to invest as well as create an inclusive and sustainable economic growth for the people of Pegunungan Papua.
