Academic Figure in Timika Supports Damai Cartenz Task Force in Maintaining Security Stability in Papua

TIMIKA — An academic figure in Timika, Mapuay Menasye Theo Afasedanja, has expressed his support for the efforts of the Damai Cartenz 2026 Task Force in maintaining security stability and enforcing the law in Papua. The statement was delivered in Timika on Sunday (8/2/2026) as a form of moral support from the academic community for law enforcement measures aimed at creating a safe, conducive, and sustainable situation in the Land of Papua.

In his remarks, Mapuay Menasye Theo Afasedanja emphasized that security stability is the primary foundation for the continuity of education, development, and the improvement of public welfare in Papua.

“We, from the academic community, support firm and professional law enforcement efforts that continue to prioritize a humanistic approach. A secure environment will provide space for Papua’s younger generation to study, grow, and achieve a better future,” he stated.

He also highlighted the importance of maintaining unity and not being easily provoked by unverified information. According to him, strengthening information literacy is a shared responsibility amid the rapid flow of digital communication today.

“We urge the entire community to be wise in receiving and disseminating information. Do not be easily influenced by issues whose truth has not been clearly established. Let us strengthen solidarity and safeguard Papua as our shared home,” he added.

Theo further appreciated the dialogical approach carried out by the Damai Cartenz Task Force in building communication with local communities while respecting indigenous values and cultural traditions.

“An approach that prioritizes dialogue and respect for local wisdom is the right step. We hope that Operation Damai Cartenz continues to operate professionally, transparently, and with integrity in order to realize a safe and peaceful Papua,” he said.

He affirmed that maintaining security is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement authorities, but a collective responsibility of all elements of society, including the education sector.

“Let us work together to keep Papua safe and peaceful. A safe Papua, a peaceful Papua, belongs to all of us,” he concluded.
