Papua’s 2026 Minimum Wage Increases by 3.51 Percent, Set at Rp4.43 Million

Jayapura – The Papua Provincial Government has officially set the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) for 2026 at Rp4,436,283. The figure represents an increase of 3.51 percent, or approximately Rp150,433, compared to the 2025 minimum wage.

Papua Governor Mathius D Fakhiri, speaking in Jayapura on Wednesday, instructed regency and city governments across Papua to promptly follow up on the decision in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.
He explained that Papua’s minimum wage in 2025 stood at Rp4,285,850, and has been adjusted to Rp4,436,283 for 2026.

The provincial government has also urged all companies operating in Papua to adjust workers’ wages in line with the newly established minimum wage.

The determination of the 2026 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) and Sectoral Minimum Wage (UMS), Fakhiri added, was based on an agreement reached during a session of the Papua Provincial Wage Council, which involved representatives from the government, employers, and workers.

He expressed hope that the decision would be accepted by all parties and serve as a positive step toward improving workers’ welfare without placing undue pressure on businesses.
“This adjustment is expected not to burden employers, but rather to encourage increased productivity,” he said.

In addition, the Papua Provincial Government has instructed relevant regional work units (OPD) to conduct supervision to ensure companies comply with the 2026 minimum wage regulations.

The 2026 Papua Provincial Minimum Wage will officially take effect on January 1, 2026, and must be implemented by all companies in accordance with applicable regulations.
