Jayapura – On Wednesday (13/12), two suspects, Agus Kosay and Beny Murib, again faced a follow-up trial at the Jayapura Class 1A District Court regarding cases of violence against people together or beatings.
The two suspects have been in the spotlight after being named as suspects by the Jayapura Police for the beating incident that occurred in Jayapura Regency on August 18 2023.
Previously, both of them were questioned as witnesses until they were finally declared suspects by the police who were then handed over to the prosecutor’s office after the file was declared P21.
Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Police Commissioner. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, stated that in the trial, the indictment from the Public Prosecutor against the two of them had been declared valid and fulfilled the requirements in accordance with Article 143 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
“It is known that Agus Kosay and Beny Murib will return to trial on Monday 18 December 2023 with the agenda of an Interim Decision Hearing by the Panel of Judges,” he said.
Police Commissioner. Benny emphasized that security during the trial would be tightened to maintain a safe situation.
“We also continue to communicate with community leaders to support the police in bringing order and ensuring a conducive security situation, especially considering that there are supporters from each party who are taking part in overseeing the proceedings,” he explained.
